Scott's presentation - Help! The ABCs of Employee Handbooks for School District Business Officials - discussed four main topics:
(1) an employee handbook can be a valuable communication resource for both a school district and its employees;
(2) an employee handbook can provide guidance and information related to the school district's history, mission, values, policies, procedures and benefits in a written format;
(3) an employee handbook can be a means of protecting the school district against discrimination or unfair treatment claims; and
(4) an employee handbook can be an easily accessible guide to the school district's policies and practices as well as an overview of the expectations of the school board and administration.
