EA’s ‘Madden NFL’ Lawsuit Going To Trial

The EA employee responsible for the now-iconic Madden NFL videogame franchise scored a minor victory in court this week, when a federal judge said portions of his lawsuit against the company had merit and deserved a jury trial.

Game designer Robin Antonick helped build the very first Madden NFL game in the late 1980s, based on an early prototype he had built previously for the Apple II.  Antonick received royalties for his work, which eventually ceased when Electronics Arts Inc. completely overhauled the game’s code.
