The Legislature passed the state's 2020 budget in the early morning hours of Wednesday as a snowstorm bore down on Pierre.
Appropriations Committee members and legislative leaders spent hours negotiating over pieces of the state's $4.87 billion budget in the Capitol's hallways and behind closed doors over the last few days, culminating in the Senate and House passing the 2020 fiscal year budget between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. Wednesday in a rush to leave Pierre before the snowstorm started on Wednesday morning.
