Statewide Texting Ban Faces House Opposition

Posted on Feb 22, 2013

PIERRE — After passing through the South Dakota Senate with little opposition last year, a proposed statewide ban on texting while driving appeared before its first House committee — and promptly was killed. That’s not the story this year, where a ban on texting is still alive — so far.

But it’s what happened two years ago with a similar attempt. The House also defeated texting bans in 2010 and 2012. Will 2013’s proposed ban meet the same fate as its House hearing nears?
