As the final days of 2012 approached, Judge William Srstka of the Second Judicial Circuit in South Dakota told several lawyers he was spending New Year’s Eve at home.“I sent an email out to the lawyers who are interested in trusts that I would stay late if anybody had anything (that needed to be signed) last minute,” said Srstka, then about a week from retirement.
