Opponents Urge South Dakota Lawmakers To Defeat Transgender Athlete Bill

 

Bills legislating transgender students put a target on every transgender South Dakotan, a House committee was told on Tuesday.

Testimony began on House Bill 1225 — requiring high school students to participate on sports teams that match their biological sex at birth — before the House Health and Human Services Committee on Tuesday morning. Two bill opponents testified on Tuesday and more testimony, including from supporters of the bill, is expected to take place on Thursday morning, followed by the committee's vote on the bill.
